Harmon mute by Humes and BergOct 01, 2012

Unlike their fiberboard mutes, Humes and Berg makes great quality all-metal mutes. I do not have another harmon style mute to compare the sound or performance of this one to, but it seems to be good. It has a great sound and will respond in all registers when the stem is in. However, when the stem is fully removed, it becomes difficult to impossible to hit notes below low e. It is not easy to insert into the bell, it does not want to stay and quite a bit of force is required to make it stay. I've found that filing the cork near the end that inserts into the bell helps.
