1Worked well at first, almost useless after 8 monthsNov 07, 2009
By Joseph Doll
At first, it looked and functioned very well. In the intervening 8 months, it has deteriorated to near uselessness.

The main problem is that the center riser, on which the trombone is supposed to rest, now descends under the weight of the trombone until the trombone is supported by the floor, not the stand, in a precarious position.

In addition, one of the legs now stops higher than the others when unfolded. This causes the whole structure to rock and wobble to a noticeable angle. Finally, the finish on the riser post is now marred by unsightly rust blotches.

The stand does not fit entirely within the bell as advertised. The protruding portion interferes with closing the case, but does not make it impossible.

4I use and reccomend this stand to the majority of tenor trombonistsNov 24, 2010
By Josh
This is a pretty useful little stand. Seems to be better balanced than the Hamilton trombone stands, which is probably due to it having 4 legs instead of 3. I am just not a fan of the Hamilton stands and I definitely recommend this product over other tenor trombone stands. It's as sturdy as the others out there and it's much more portable. I have used this Hercules stand with a straight tenor trombone and f attachment horn. (Side note: one draw back to this stand is forgetting which horn/case I left it in thus not having it for a gig. If you have more than one tenor trombone that you play on regularly definitely get an additional stand)

This stand stores more easily into the larger horn but still just barely fits into the case. Whereas when it is in the smaller horn I have to make sure it is fully seated in the horn AND push down the padding inside the case so the case will close.

The extra weight is definitely noticeable when you carry the case around and consideration should be given to the amount of wear and tear on the handle of the case over extended use especially for older cases or if you are using a gig bag. Although I haven't had the same friction lock failure as in the previous review I can see how this could happen. I would suggest a redesign of that element of the stand. Other wise it has been a pretty sturdy and convenient trombone stand. Makes it that much easier when you have mutes/mute bag, music, and other accessories to carry to the gig.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend this stand for use with a bass trombone EVER. the peg is simply to small and goes too far into the bell of a bass trombone causing the slide to rest on the ground not to mention the base not being wide enough to really accommodate the extra top-heaviness of the bass trombone. If you have a bass trombone you know how expensive these are and risking damage to them is simply not an option. The only stand I recommend for bass trombones is the UMI Precision Stand for now. Although I'd like to see a beefed up hercules bass trombone stand (sampson?) that can be stored in a bass trombone bell.

1Travlite IN-Bell stand arrived with mfg defectOct 24, 2011
By D. L. Smith
This was purchased as a birthday gift for a young teen trombone player. It appeared to be the better choice with greater utility than some of the other products. Upon arrival, the "bell" portion would not stay in place at any height. It would slide to the bottom. There did not appear to be any type of catch or "friction" to hold it in place.

The concept was great. The manufacturer needs to design a true catch to hold the "fluted" piece at the proper level.

This unit was rmaed.

Of course, Amazon is extremely good about taking care of their customers. Amazon gets 5 stars for the way they operate. In my case, I cannot give this company any stars except the one to which I am limited.

5Collapsible ConvenienceOct 20, 2011

I've had this for about two months now, and absolutely love this. It's sturdy enough for my Yamaha YSL-882O trombone and still fits in the bell (perfect for the tiny case). Setup takes me about twenty seconds and breaking down just about as long. However, I am a bit concerned with the foam piece on top as it covers the raw end of the tubing at the top of the stand - it it slips, scratching may be possible. I've yet to run into that problem though.

Sturdy, compact, and pretty light make this a great stand.

1Can't keep it up under pressure!Sep 22, 2011
By William H Moore
The concept of a trombone stand that stores in the bell was attractive, but when I got it I was disappointed. It would not support a lightweight jazz horn, my King 2B.
I immediately sent it back.
