Very nice muteNov 17, 2011
By Jeffrey I got it for my fiance since she plays trombone and needed a different type of mute. She loved it. She's the expert and since she has no issues with it it must be a good mute.
Bought for jazz. Has a nice bright soundJan 27, 2013
By John M. Ralston All of my other mutes are Tom Crown copper bottom, but I needed a brighter mute for jazz. Personally I don't care for the stone lined range of mutes. My Denis Wick Cup mute has served me very well, so thought I should give their straight mute a try. Very light, and has a nice bright metallic zing which compliments the warm sound of my King 3B Silversonic very well.
Good solid muteDec 07, 2012
By Kiwi Bassman Good value for money. Simple design, so robust. Nothing fancy; gives the sound you are supposed to get from a straight mute. It is important to sound like the other trombones in the section. Dennis Wick mutes are well made and reliable. I bought this one because I love my Dennis Wick cup mute.
great mute!Nov 28, 2012
By Nai Nai Great mute with good tone. Only problem is my palm and fingers are small and I have a hard time holding the mute to insert it in trombone bell.
Great mute; great value!Aug 17, 2012
By Daniel Cervone When I first tried this mute, I liked it but thought it was a bit "stuffy" in the low register (i.e., below the staff). Since then I have played it more and found it to be excellent -- in ALL registers. It has a very clean, warm sound. It's now the only mute I use for "legit" music (I still use a "stone-lined" straight mute for jazz and commercial music). It provides the right amount of "muted" volume along with an excellent straight mute timbre; and I found no need to file down the corks (which can be the case with other brands).
